2005 East China Sea United Search and Rescue Drill

SHANGHAI, CHINA - JULY 7: (CHINA OUT) China's biggest and most advanced patrol ship, "Haixun 31" of Maritime Safety Administration takes part in a mission with patrol yachts during the 2005 East China Sea United Search and Rescue Drill at the Yangshan Deep-water Port on July 7, 2005 in Shanghai, China. The drill is carried out by 24 cooperating authorities including the city's maritime safety administration, the frontier inspection police force as well as the East China Sea Fleet of the Chinese navy. Nearly 1,000 personnel, as well as 30 sea ships and five helicopters have been mobilized for the drill. The rescue institutions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and the maritime affairs departments of Russia, the United States, and ten ASEAN member countries have sent representatives to see the exercise while the Republic of Korea and Japan sent patrol craft to observe.
