Elliott Erwitt - American Photographer

Elliott Erwitt, American advertising and documentary photographer, 17th December 2002. Born in Paris, moving to Italy and finally settling in Los Angeles, Erwitt graduated from university with a major in photography and became a photographer's assistant in the United States Army. His first work was in industrial photography, but he soon went freelance, shooting for Life and Look, Collier's and Holiday, where his work caught the eye of Robert Capa who asked him to join Magnum Photos. Erwitt is renowned for his black & white candid photos of ironic and absurd situations, everyday settings and his great love, dogs.
