Looking on is resident Golf Pro, and Club President, Muhammad Afzal Abdul, and Naween's playing partner (behind Abdul). Two caddies wait patiently at the side of the box. The Kabul Golf Course has existed for decades, but war and poverty have taken their toll on the landscape. Trees all almost non existant, and there is no grass. The putting greens are painted black with motor oil and an irrigation ditch, in which they lack the money to place the pipes, is a major hazard along the first two fairways.
