Jimmy Slade and Floyd Patterson Boxing

(Original Caption) Jimmy Slade, New York State Heavyweight Champion, hits the apron in the first round of his eight round bout with Floyd Patterson, Light-Heavyweight contender from Brooklyn, N.Y., at New York's Madison Square Garden November 19th. Patterson decked Slade twice in the first round and once in the second, third and eighth rounds. After the Brooklyn belter was awarded a near-shut-out decision, New York State Athletic Commission Chairman Robert Christenberry announced he would hold up Slade's purse pending a hearing Monday on the Heavyweight's "poor performance."
