(Original Caption) Studying an Alloson turbo jet engine at a New York press conference December 19 are (left to right) Harlow H. Curtice, president of General Motors Corp.; Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, chairman of the board of Easten Airlines, and Edward B. Newill, vice president of General Motors Corp. and general manager of its Allison Division. At the conference, it was announced that Easten plans to buy $26,000,000 worth of the engines from General Motors to power a projected fleet of 40 Lockheed "Electra" Airliners. During the meeting, Rickenbacker lashed out at those who advocate the breaking up of large corporations on the grounds they "are too big". The remark was interpreted as a reference to the current Congressional investigation of General Motors.
