People dressed with uniforms of World War II and armed take part in a ceremony called " Roupel 1941- The Revival" organized by the municipality of Sintiki for the second consecutive year in order to preserve the historical memory and promote historical tourism, in Fort Roupel near the village of Promahonas, Northern Greece, on May 14, 2017. The fort became famous during World War II, where the advance of the German and Bulgarian armieswas stopped. On the eve of World War II, Fort Roupel was incorporated into the Metaxas Line, a new line of defence that was built to repel an invasion into Greece from Bulgaria.
