'The Boy From Oz' Media Call

Hugh Jackman took the lead in the Broadway version of the show in October 2003, receiving the Tony Award for Best Actor in a musical in 2004 for his portrayal of the flamboyant boy from NSW, who helped define the disco era in the 1970s and '80s before succumbing to AIDS in 1992. The first ever 'Boy From Oz' production in Sydney ran from March 1998 to September 2005, and went on to become the most successful new Australian musical ever, with 'Dancing with the Stars' judge Todd McKenney in the lead role. Hugh will be joined by Chrissy Amphlett and Angela Toohey, reprising their roles as Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli, in the touring production which will run from August 3 in Sydney until September 3 in Brisbane.
