Interior view of the Church of Simeon Stylites, located beneath the Katskhi pillar, a huge natural limestone monolith that rises 131 feet into the air, situated at the village of Katskhi in Imereti region, western Georgia. Saint Simeon Stylites or Symeon the Stylite was a Syriac ascetic saint who achieved notability for living 37 years on a small platform on top of a pillar near Aleppo (in modern Syria). Several other stylites later followed his model (the Greek word style means "pillar").
