Sorrento is located on the northern coast of the Sorrentina peninsula, of which it is a key location: it overlooks the Gulf of Naples and many viewpoints from which to see Naples (visible across the bay). It is a charming coastal town located on the cliffs of the Gulf of Naples. Despite its name, Marina Grande is actually the smaller port of the two of Sorrento and also the oldest. Marina Grande is a traditional and coquettish fishing port located under the cliffs of limestone rock in which the old town of Sorrento is located. Away from the traffic of the streets of the city, this sheltered bay enjoys a much calmer pace of life.
