Jim Carrey on Being Courageous

Jim Carrey: Well you know I – I think anybody who goes into this kind of thing, there is so many moments where you have to go, well I don’t know what – what this is going to be, what is going to turn out like, I’m just going to go. 14:29:04 And I hope God’s going to put words in my mouth or whatever, you know, so there’s so many along, you know, throughout anybody’s life. Where they are faced with a moment of like stand-up or – or just fade back into the crowd. You know, um, so constantly, every time you get up in front of an audience it takes, it takes a lot of courage. The possibility of rejection is a huge thing, just went to Alaska last year I went to uh… 14:29:35 We – we do this thing where a bunch of guys get together and we stalk grizzly bears, and all things, it’s very stupid. But we get out there in the bush and like fifty yards away squatting behind some shrub. 14:29:48 You know while the bears like sniffing the air and going whoa, that doesn’t sound, or that doesn’t sound local, you know and they generally take off, but we observe them and uh – and uh I forget what my point was. Something about courage. I Interviewer: Courage. Jim Carrey: Courage, courage, courage, what was I talking about? Interviewer: What did one run at you? Jim: No. Kristie: Did you save somebody’s life? Jim Carrey: Oh damn, I’ve lost my train of thought. You see I’m ill, uh I was saying a lot of courage, it just takes courage to go anywhere, uh oh god I lost my point I’m so sorry. Kirstie: No that’s okay, it was good, I’ll use the first half. Jim: Can you please just cut out the part where my brain just goes to toast?
