Bicentenial Birthday cake designers Ross Wallace and Brian Thomson.The designers of Sydney's Bicentennial birthday cake and the man willing to pay $200,000 for it have a message for their critics: don't be so serious.Brian Thomson and Ross Wallace, who designed a model of the 12-metre wide, three-tiered blue cake, say it will be as popular with visitors next year as the Opera House or the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.Mr. Thomson, an award-winning designer whose stage, film and opera credits include The Rocky Horror Show, Rebel, "Starstruck and Voss, was commissioned by Festival of Sydney director Stephen Hall to come up with some Bicentennial for the city streets.
