UNITED KINGDOM - AUGUST 02: Colour print of two plates from a series of four. Plate one depicts the 'Jupiter' steam locomotive (1831) pulling first class carriages with a Royal Mail carriage behind. The first class carriages were designed to look like three stage coaches joined together. The guard sat on top of the front carriages directing the driver. Plate two shows the locomotive 'North Star' (1830) pulling second and third class carriages. Both locomotives were built by Robert Stephenson (1803-1859). Printed by Raphael Tuck.
