Dancers at the Xenon Club

(Original Caption) NEW YORK: Some of the 2,500 who were invited do their things on the dance floor during the June 7th opening night of Xenon, a new $2-million night spot billed as "the ultimate discotheque." Lighted figures are part of "the shooting gallery," an affair composed of neon lights. "Hit" the target in center with an "electronic rifle" and the lights flash in mind-boggling sequence. The disco is said to have $100,000 sound system and $90,000 descending "space ship" created by Douglas Trumbell, who designed the special effects for the film, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."
