Water Pours Through Bookstore Ceiling After Sprinkler System Fails

A leak in a sprinkler system led to part of a ceiling collapsing in a bookstore in upstate New York. Footage taken by Maggie Darrah shows a drip near the front window inside The Bookstore Plus, a shop in Lake Placid, New York, on February 2. Darrah, an employee of The Bookstore Plus, said that it started as a small drop that got progressively worse. 'My boss realized it was in the sprinkler system and ran to shut off the water,' Darrah said. But he didn't quite get there in time. 'As he was doing this, the pipe completely gave way,' Darrah added. In the footage, part of the ceiling can be seen collapsing, with water gushing out of the opening and puddling on the floor.
