Barbara Payton and Franchot Tone

Actor Franchot Tone had the dubious distinction of getting his name in the newspapers more often than any other Hollywood personality in the final months of 1951. First, it was a custody battle for his two children by former wife Jean Wallace; then a violent brawl with actor Tom Neal for the hand of blonde Barbara Payton; then his arrest on charges of kicking and spitting at a Holly wood columnist; and, finally, his appearance in court with his new wife when she was called as a witness in the murder of Abe Davidian.
