An Air Caledonie aircraft from La Tontouta lands at the Magenta airport on June 5, 2024 in Noumea as commercial flights to and from the main airport in New Caledonia resume, after they were halted in mid-May when unrest broke out in the French Pacific territory of New Caledonia over government plans for a new voting law. Local airline Aircalin said it will progressively resume a part of its long- and medium-haul commercial flights from the Tontouta International Airport outside the capital Noumea. It added a small plane would ferry passengers between Tontouta and the Magenta landing strip in Noumea, as there were still barricades along the road linking the two.
