Italy Plans To Build Longest Suspension Bridge

The EU parliament decided March 13 to include a bridge over the Strait of Messina in its list of planned pan-European network projects. The project was approved by architect Dr. William Brown, the architect for the Bosforo bridge. The project calls for building the longest suspension bridge in the world, approximately 3,666 meters (about 2.2 miles) to link Sicily to the mainland of Italy.
