The national flag of Guinea was adopted on November 10, 1958. It consists of three vertical stripes of equal size: red (closest to the mast), yellow (in the center), and green.These colors mirror those found on the flags of Ethiopia and Ghana, representing the ideals of the Pan-African movement.Red was chosen to honor those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle against colonialism. It is also associated with workers in both industry and agriculture, hence its connection to the term Work in the national motto. Yellow symbolizes Guinean gold and the African sun, which shines equally on all people, representing justice. Green embodies Guinea's rich forests and agricultural lands.
