Jim McGovern Opening Statement at Rules Committee Meeting on AHCA

Congressman Jim McGovern of Massachusetts gives opening remarks at a rule markup at the House Rules Committee on the consideration of the American Health Care Act. McGovern equates the number of people who will lose their insurance as a result of passing the bill to the populations of Australia and 17 US states combined. McGovern calls the bill a tax cut for the wealthy, says that it will cause people to pay more for less quality and says that it guts Medicare and Medicaid. McGovern also talks about the opposition to the bill from Republican Senators and backroom deal amendments.
