A Dallas billionaire is in a heated debate with Austin environmentalists over his proposed development surrounding one of Texas' rare nature preserves. The development, called Mirasol Springs, will include a 73-room hotel with a swimming pool, 2 restaurants, 71 homes, an event barn, a farm and a field station for student researchers at University of Texas at Austin. Environmentalists have said the development will devastate the nearby nature reserve known at Roy Creek Canyon by running the local water sources dry and leading to the extinction of a native Salamander species.
