Washington State Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez says beginning debate on her privileged resolution that Illinois Congressman Chuy Garcia of Illinois left his open seat to his Chief of Staff as beneath the dignity of the office and incompatible with the Constitution that she rose with humility, fear, and conviction that American citizens had a right to choose their elected representatives, they liked Chuy Garcia and thought his reasons for retiring were noble, but they were asking the body to consider facts about how he chose his successor and deprived Americans the right to choose their elected representative.
